Committed to Arts.
Starbucks begins to play a role in developing people's theater aesthetics and pedagogy towards the development of people and society with its partnership with the Philippine Educational Theatre Association.
The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) is a non-profit organization committed to using theater that is distinctly Filipino as a tool for social change. Founded in 1967, PETA has written, translated, adapted, published and performed more than 400 plays and conducted thousands of workshops locally and internationally; greatly influencing the history of Philippine theater.
A grant from Starbucks Philippines in 2015 allows select public school students and out of school youth to enjoy for free the gift of discovery and education through PETA productions which includes a play adapted from Jose Rizal's work. Also with the same grant, PETA is providing scholarships for select partners, teachers and young people who need assistance to join its theater workshops.
