We Care: Our role and responsibility to our partners and communities through COVID -19

For the past few weeks, we have been closely monitoring the dynamic situation of COVID-19, along with the rest of the world. As more cases arise, more of our countrymen are left feeling weary and anxious. Know that we are with you in these trying times and our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this virus and we hope for your betterment. Allow me also to thank our brave frontliners for their everyday sacrifice. We are grateful for what you continue to do for us all. And on behalf of our entire organization, we pray for your safety and good health. I hope that through the simple ways we have found to support you, we have given you joy and nourishment.

At Starbucks, the health and well-being of our partners (employees) and the communities we are a part of remain top of mind and our highest priority.

You may have seen that for a while now we have taken a series of decisive, extra precautionary steps in line with the government’s call to support virus containment initiatives. From increasing sanitation practices in our stores in the past few weeks to having paused operations in all stores effective March 23 to support immediate adoption of social distancing which the enhanced community wide quarantine was set out to do.

As caring for our community is our top priority, we have also donated food and beverages to our frontliners such as medical personnel, law enforcement personnel, NGO volunteers and organizations who have had challenges to accessing it.

I would also like to thank you for continuing to support Starbucks and our partners. Your messages of support online give them much joy and are truly appreciated. Our partners are truly the heart of our organization. We know that without their unwavering commitment, there would be no Starbucks Experience to extend to all who frequent our stores. Which is why it is imperative that we take good care of them. Know that we will ensure that they are properly compensated even during this quarantine period. Calamity pay is also extended to all partners. Also, in addition to their sick leave benefits, we are offering additional paid leaves to help them manage any COVID-19 concerns or related expenses. We take care of our partners and the communities we are a part of because you have always welcomed us in your hearts.

We continue to be grateful for your support and loyalty. And this fuels us to remain resilient and to stay committed to our mission that is to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.

We are truly privileged to serve you and your community. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Stay safe, stay indoors and stay healthy.
