Committed to Education.
Starbucks proudly champions Teach for the Philippines (TFP) in moving the country closer to education equity.
Planner Promotion Beneficiary
In January 2016, Starbucks Philippines donated Php 1.15 million to Teach for the Philippines (TFP) as a beneficiary of its planner promotion for a second year.
TFP enlists young leaders, called Teacher Fellows, to teach in public schools for two years. This fellowship program coupled by building relationships in support of public schools allows Teach For The Philippines approach their goal of making sure that all Filipino children, no matter who they were born to or where, have access to an excellent and relevant education.
Teach for the Philippines is a partner of Teach for All, a global network working to achieve education equity.
Renovate to Educate Program
On top of an unrestricted grant to support Teach For The Philippines core programs, Starbucks partners (employees) regularly volunteer for TFP’s Renovate to Educate program.
This program enlists volunteers to spend a day refurbishing public school classrooms. In April 2015, Starbucks partners sent volunteers to five public schools in Manila,Laguna and CDO.
The Renovate to Educate Program aims to improve classroom refurbishment in public schools to directly enhance the learning environment of our public school students.
Starbucks also supports TFP’s FLIPPED program - an enrichment program where students leave their classrooms to travel to a variety of educational locations aimed at expanding their view of the world.
TFP increases the sense of possibility in the lives of our public school students by bringing them on learning excursions (i.e. educational trips) to world-class educational and professional facilities. The excursions create interactive learning environments complementary to the TFP’s day-to-day work in the classrooms.
